Huntington Beach 6.0 - Simpo and Flores

Nike 6.0 has taken over Huntington Beach. Hopefully the waves will follow. As for now, it's 2 ft mush. This morning Brett Simpson avoided the crowd by surfing Northside while Jeremy Flores slogged through the denizens on Southside.

Ryan and Mason Spend 1 Hour in HB

Mason's in town for the US Open so Ryan's playing the role of gracious host. This is their first session out at southside. Ryan did his normal thing and Mason warmed up for the comp by connecting flat sections from the outside to the inside. A bunch of other guest stars showed up like Ted Navarro, Kalani David, Alex Gullet and more.

Stay tuned for more "Warm Up Sessions".

1 Hour Somewhere in Orange County

This last run of swell was 4-6' but straight south and walled from Newport to HB, so we took a short drive and scored a few lefts.

1 Morning with Ryan Carlson

Again, this is all from 1 session with Ryan. He is one of the most consistent aerielists in the world. This is what we got in about 1 hour somewhere in Orange County.

The Shocker

It happens to all of us. It happens to the best of them. It seems to happen to me more often than not lately.

During this session, the waves were good, the sun was out and yet everyone was having a Shocker. With all due respect, even these guys crap sessions are better than most people's regular sessions.

The surfers will remain nameless and faces have been blurred to conceal their identities.

The Winch Session

Joey from Radical Winches came down to tow the boys at a few little wedges. The thing is a little hard to time with the waves so the coolest stuff went down on this little punchy left. Everyone got a few, but Carlson just blew up on that thing. And it was nice to finally have some sun!

Teddy vs. Chase! The Pier Showdown

What do you do when you are pro surfer and the waves have been terrible for a week? Run mock heats at the pier with Coach Simmo!

Teddy Navarro vs. Chase Wilson. 25 minute heats. Best of 3. Ryan Simmons judges and then coaches between heats.

It was excatly like Curren vs. Occy at Bells. Or Slater vs. AI at Pipe. Exactly.

Jesse Guglielmana!

This grom was visiting from Kauai with Tyler Newton. He was busting airs left and right, so after I missed the first few, I began recording.

This is what we got in the course of 3 days.

Alpinestars New Superstar

The waves have been so bad lately. Today was supposed to be crappy again, so while everyone else was asleep Ted found this little right ramp and went to work with his new rig. Nice work, Ted. And kudos to Alpinestars.

This is a little promo I put together for Surfline. It's a remix compilation of the past 3 months or so.

Kustom Airstrike Entry - Ryan Carlson, Car-Rupt Flip

Please vote at www.kustomairstrike.com

Ryan Carlson is arguably the most innovative and consistent aerielist in the world, and he is yet to have his breakout moment. This contest is the perfect venue to help him garner the recognition he deserves.

Last year Ryan got the highest votes and the most views and they still gave the award to Dusty Payne. Please vote and get everyone you know to vote. We need to take this thing! Ryan has a family and the $50,000 would go a long way for them and winning this thing would really boost his career.

Do you part to support Ryan and vote!

How To: Shape a Surfboard with Grant Ellis

Surfer Magazine is doing a feature on How To Shape a Surfboard for the October 2010 issue. Grant Ellis is the test subject and Joel Patterson will be conducting the interview for the magazine. I filmed it. Check it out.

Also, check out FoamEZ.com for everything you need to build your own board. They supply all the main shapers in Orange County as well as hobbyists.

Too Much South

The direction is too south, and everywhere from Seal Beach to Laguna is walled. The wedge had size, but it wasn't really working. Oh, yeah, and not to mention all the wind that was howling from dust til dawn.

Alas, we perservered, and surfed a not-so-secret spot.

3 Waves Each - Hopkins and Waring

The pier was a zoo once again, but amidst the chaos, Billy and Chris were able to get a couple rad ones.

Analog Thursdays

Analog hosts a beach cleanup every Thursday and brings coffee and donuts for everyone. The team usually shows up and rips a few. Ted Navarro and Damien Fahrenfort also cruised down to surf a few.

So next time you are at the store and trying to decide which clothes to buy, go with Analog! They keep your beachs clean.

Also, Ted found a kid wearing his stolen wetsuit and marched him out the water and made him take it off on the beach. It was unbelievable. But I failed to film to actual confrontation, just the aftermath.
